Nov 17, 2013 - I was selected as Assistant Captain "A" of my Varsity Hockey Team ... It's a small squad of 12 but we're moving up in our Division with a strong Defense protecting our new goalies. Oct 23, 2013 - Rejoined Middletown Knights Varsity Ice Hockey Team. 7-13-2013 - I attended a week long Penn State Elite Hockey Camp. This was my 3rd year in a row and I had a blast as usual with my hockey buddies from MD, NC, PA, NJ, NY and Ohio. I was on the "Green" team as #13. The Camp had great instructional sessions, on and off the ice. In addition to training, we played in a elimination series with 5 other teams. Each game had two 30 minute periods but with no icing and penalty shots in place of penalty time in the "Sin Bin". This game format kept the matches going non-stop. My Green Team won the first 3 elimination games but lost in the final championship game. I had 3 assists in the 4 games plus a ton of ice time! The last part of the Camp (2 half + 1 full day) was dedicated to position specific training and I learned a lot in getting ready to play Juniors. For the 2013-2014 season, as a 15 YO, I have joined the FREDERICK FREEZE TIER 3 JUNIOR HOCKEY TEAM playing in the Western Conference of the Empire Junior Hockey League. The Frederick Freeze is the Tier II Affiliate of the Johnstown Tomahawks who are a Tier II Junior A ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League's North Division - - I still play Defense and my number is yet to be assigned (99 is taken). - - We play against Empire Junior teams such as: Adirondack Jr. Wings, Troy, New York; Brewster Bulldogs Brewster, New York; Buffalo Stars Cheektowaga, New York; New Jersey Hitmen, Wayne New Jersey; Jersey Wildcats Randolph, New Jersey; Maksymum Jr. Hockey Club Rochester, New York; New York Apple Core Long Beach, New York; Philadelphia Revolution, Warminster, Pennsylvania; Suffolk Juniors Hauppauge, New York; Syracuse Stars Cicero, New York. - - The Freeze has a second team in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (also Tier 3) on which I will most likely play as the season progresses and fill-ins due to injuries are needed. As a 15YO in the 2012-2013 Fall-Winter season, I am playing as Defenseman for the Hagerstown Bulldogs (U16 A-level) in the CBHL, and for the Middletown Knights HS Team in the Maryland Student Hockey League (MSHL). During the 2012 Spring, I practiced in a HYHA 4-on-4 training camp ... during the 2012 Summer to keep in shape, I played roller hockey with the FrederrickTowne Hockey Club. I also attended a week long 2012 Elite High School level summer training camp at Penn State University - I play to return to PSU again next 2013 summer. Attended a July 2011 week long High School ice hockey camp at Penn State Univ ... 4 hrs ice + 2 hrs class daily - Played as #69 Right D on PSU White Team defeating Blue Team 8-6, I had 1 goal + 1 assist ......... I LOVE HOCKEY !!! I am playing for the Hagerstown Bulldogs (A-level Bantans) in 2011-2012 Fall-Winter season (August 2011 to April 2012) - looking forward to moving up to U16 next year! I also play on Middletown Knights High School Ice Hockey team in the MSHL 2011-2012 Fall-Winter season ... AND also play for Middletown Knights in the 2012 SkateFrederick SNL (Sunday Night League) - - keeping busy with lots of ice time. April 2011, as a 13YO, I played in the 2011 Spring Midget League for the Middletown Knights High School team (#99 Left D) at SkateFrederick (15-18 YOs) although only in 8th grade; -- game stats are above in "Honors": On 12-5-09 Ryan was chosen as the "Stroehmann Youth Player Of The Game" held at Giant Center, Hershey PA.(home of the 2009 Calder Cup Champions Hershey Bears) and interviewed on ice before 9,011 fans !!! Every thing has "clicked" and Ryan has come to be an outstanding performer ... a scoring defensive natural like Mike Green with the temperment of Wayne Gretzky ,,, avid fan of the Washington Caps/O.V.(#8) plus Matt Gilroy (#97 NY Rangers). very tall for his age and expected to be at least a 6' 4"+ adult ... has been in the 99% percentile growth charts since day 1) plays far above his age group -- fast & agile with a long reach - a natural skater with great moves & instincts ... excellent ability to read developing plays ... a breakaway scorer with veering, dodging moves |

June - August, 2013 ... Working for 5 weeks as a summer camp Counselor-In-Training (CIT) again at the Frederick County YMCA. This is more community service volunteer work that I enjoy doing with the summer camp kids. Maybe I'll get some of them interested in playing ice hockey!

June-August 2012 - Worked a total of 168 hours (Mon to Fri) at Frederick County, Maryland YMCA as a CIT (Counselor In Training) for 5 weeks in various summer sports camps for kids age 5 to 13. I really enjoyed being a CIT and helping young kids develop their sporting skills and also acting as a role model for them. I learned that community organizations such as the YMCA help the community and kids parents by teaching skills and discipline that kids may not otherwise get as they grow up. Because of my camp experience, I plan to be a staff Sports Camp Counselor at the Frederick MD, YMCA in the Summer of 2013 and 2014 before my Junior & Senior High School years. I plan to continue the YMCA Sports Counselor position until the end of summer 2015 when I'll be going to College - hopefully to a school with a NCAA/ACHA hockey team! During summers off from college I hope to get a summer job at the YMCA helping young kids in sports camps as a full time counselor. I am considering being a pro atheltete, teacher, or hockey coach for a career.
All the kids in the camps were really enthusiastic about sports and many of them seemed to view me as an older brother.
