Football Honors

'06 All Conference Honorable Mention LB

Football Additional

I play football and lacrosse for my high school. I started playing football in 4th grade as a tackle on both side of the ball, at the time I weighed 69 lbs. I moved out to TE and OLB as I got taller and not much heavier and then in HS to WR/QB & OLB/S because I am still tall and pretty light, I am a good blocker and work hard to have solid mechanics. Most coaches’ first impression of me is that I am not solid enough to play football and I can see that in their eyes. I work hard and I love the game. I stay home and strive to do whatever my coaches ask me to do. I will surprise you - I may be thin but I am fast in the open field and not afraid to take on any opponent, I will hit my opponent so hard he will think twice about running at me the next time. When I make a mistake I know it and I take responsibility for it and try to make sure I don’t do it again.

I started on D every game last season and on O in 5 games. I was the second leading tackler for the team and led the team in fumbles caused and recovered as well as INT’s. On offense I was asked to play every skilled position. We had 186 plays and I learned the responsibilities and patterns for all 3 WR’s, H back, QB, TB and TE. It was frustrating for me on a personal level not to have one position to focus on and improve at but I did whatever my coaches asked me to do to help my team. It is all about the team for me, I do my job for the team not for me.

I don’t think I am anywhere near done growing. I lift weights 5 days a week in circuits and eat 6000 calories a day but I just seem to get taller and not much bigger. I am looking forward to learning a lifting and eating regimen that will help me to gain strength and size. Some people think I should use pharmaceuticals to help me achieve those goals. That is not something I am willing to do, I am 16 and I will get bigger once I stop getting taller – I hope that is soon. Please don’t write me off because of my weight.

Other Academic Information
I am an OK student. I really enjoy history, math and science are ok. I definitely am more motivated to succeed in school when I am in a sports season. I think I would like to teach history and coach when I get out of college but maybe I will find something else that I enjoy more once I have more options. I could do better in school.

Personal Highlights

I live with my family in a small community in the foothills just west of Denver Colorado. I have two younger brothers, Aden (13) and Otto (9). My family is very close and very important to me.

Being an athlete is a part of who I am and how I see myself. I do better in school when I am involved in sports. I volunteer as an assistant coach in the youth football and lacrosse leagues in my free time and I love helping the younger kids learn the skills to play games. In the winter I spend my free time working odd jobs and snowboarding whenever I have the time and money. I like to hang out with my friends and shoot hoops or throw a ball around. I am not much of a partier, I go to parties but when the beer comes out I leave. I am willing to work hard and earn the respect of my coaches and team mates through my actions and not my words. I am a pretty quiet guy. I really want to continue playing sports competitively as long as I possibly can and when I can’t play any more I would like to coach.
