Important May Recruiting Dates


May is a busy month as contact periods occur for some spring sports. All of these various periods can be difficult to understand. Learn more about the ways coaches are allowed to contact you during these timeframes here. Keep in mind athletes can ALWAYS reach out to a coaches or programs.

Softball
Contact Period: May 1st – May 26th
Dead Period: May 27th – May 31st

Baseball
Contact Period: May 1st – May 31st

Men’s Basketball
Quiet Period: May 1st – May 13th
Evaluation Period: May 14th – May 18th
Quiet Period: May 19th – May 21st
Dead Period: May 22nd – May 25th
Quiet Period: May 26th – May 31st
Signing Period (Basketball): April 16th – May 21st (DI) or August 1st (DII)

Women’s Basketball
Quiet Period: May 1st – May 31st
(1)    Evaluations shall be permissible in Hawaii March 1st through May 31st.
Signing Period (Basketball): April 16th – May 21st (DI) or August 1st (DII)
Women’s Volleyball
Quiet Period: May 1st – May 23rd
Contact Period: May 24th – May 31st

Football
Evaluation Period: May 1st – May 31st
(1)    168 evaluation days (216 for US service academies) (excluding Memorial Day and Sundays) during April 15-May 31 selected by institution and designated in writing to the AD
• An off-campus recruiter may use one evaluation for athletic ability and one evaluation for academic qualifications.
• If coaching staff member conducts both athletics and academic evaluation of a prospective student-athlete on the same day during this period, the institution will only be charged with the use of an academic evaluation and will be able to conduct a second athletics evaluation of student-athlete on a separate day during this period
(2)    Football is in a Quiet Period during days in April or May that are not designated for Evaluation opportunities.

Track & Field/Cross Country
Contact Period: May 1st – May 31st
Signing Period: February 5th – August 1st

Men’s Lacrosse
Contact Period: May 1st – May 23rd
Dead Period: May 24th – May 27th
Contact Period: May 28th – May 31st

Women’s Lacrosse
Contact Period: May 1st – May 23rd
Dead Period: May 23rd – May 25th
(1)    Evaluation Period: One event during weekend of women’s lacrosse championship, provided it is conducted on a day which no championship competition occurs and within a 100 mile radius of site of championship.
Contact Period: May 26th – May 31st

Highlighting Signing Periods that Occur in May
Basketball: April 16th – May 21st (DI) or August 1st (DII)
Field Hockey, Soccer, Track & Field, Men's Water Polo: February 5th – August 1st
All Other Sports (includes all sports with NLI minus basketball, football, field hockey, soccer, track & field, cross country and men's water polo): April 16th – August 1st
